Lesson Title: Digital Citizenship & Social Networking
(The Digital Elements of Bullying)

Lesson Overview
Part I (this lesson)
This is a two part lesson. During this first lesson students will explore, understand and make connections between digital citizenship, digital elements of citizenship, social networking and bullying.
Part II (later lesson)
For the second part of this lesson, which will occur at a later date, students will work collaboratively to continue to research the nine elements of digital citizenship and their connection to social networking and bullying. Students will continue to research bullying and social networking statistics and create presentations using Web 2.0 tools such as Power Point, Prezi, Glogster, Padlet, etc.

Lesson Development
(Includes pre-assessment, lesson initiation, lesson development, closure and assessment)
Students will participate in a Socrative Quiz on Digital Citizenship to assess their prior understanding of digital citizenship and its elements.
Students will engage in a pre-discussion about Digital Citizenship, Digital Citizenship Elements and the connection to social networking and bullying.
Students will watch a video or Power Point presentation about Digital Citizenship, its elements and the connection to social networking and bullying. Students will apply the nine digital elements of citizenship to bullying.
Students will participate in a blog discussion about the elements of digital citizenship and the connection to social networking and bullying.
Students will participate in a Socrative Quiz on Digital Citizenship to assess their prior understanding of digital citizenship and its elements.
