The question I posted on my FB Virtual Classroom was: Have any of you ever been bullied? Have any of you ever been a bully? Do any of you know someone who has been or is currently being bullied?

They didn't call it bullying when I was a child, but I recall being picked on because I wore glasses and had red hair. If I took off my glasses, my eye would cross. I was extremely shy. I also remember my kindergarten teacher tell me that my painting was ugly and I used too much black paint. If you told your parents, too bad, the teacher was always right. I also peed my pants and the same teacher yelled at me. I was so embarrassed.

I think that is the problem sometimes. Although back then it wasn't called bullying, it was bullying! Also, even now some people will consider that "child's play" or they would say another child is "too sensitive" but they don't realize that power and consequences of words. The long term effects that words leave on others.

Most of middle school and all through high school. There were days I skipped school because I just knew I couldn't handle it that day.

People do that. They just watch. And it's weird. We talked about it in my sociology class. It's this weird mental complex where they feel since there are others around it's not their responsibility to do anything and then no one does anything. Once my sophomore year this girl was chasing me down the hall. She was pissed because she was convinced I had lied to her about my gender and was insisting on 'knowing the truth'. It was between classes and the hall was packed but the crowd just parted giving me more room to run and her more room to chase me.

have a friend who's teacher scolded him because him being different made her other students "uncomfortable" and said he was "asking for it for being so different all the time."

I think bullying has gotten worst during the years and unfortunately I think it will get worst.
